Chrismont Montessori Academy - Half-Day Primary

Chrismont Montessori Primary Program accepts toilet trained students ages 3-5 years.

Chrismont offers your child the joy and excitement of learning in a safe, happy and relaxed atmosphere. Students explore and discover at their own pace in an un-graded, mixed-age class. “Hands-On” learning materials foster self-esteem, independence, and respect for self and others. When your child is ready, we present concrete introductions to numbers, letters, writing, and phonetic reading. Science and geography activities are plentiful and available. “Fun with a purpose” is how one parent described our busy classroom!

Students ages 3-4 years attend the Primary Program five days per week in morning or afternoon sessions. We require students to attend five days per week because routine provides security for the child, and continuity is essential for full development and retention. Parents are expected to enroll their child for three years so that the child may reap the full benefits of the Montessori Method. The third year is crucial and considered to be the year of fruition in the Montessori classroom.

We believe, as did Dr. Maria Montessori, that the goal of early childhood education should be to cultivate the child’s own natural desire to learn.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS : Foreign Language/Music/Art, Gardening, “Trip Around the World”, Field Trips, Show & Tell, Walks to the Playground. Parent Education, Parent Observation, and Parent/Teacher Conferences are arranged twice per year. Parent participation is encouraged throughout the year.
